Chelva was born and raised in Penang Island, Malaysia. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in TESL from Management and Science University (MSU), Selangor and currently she is pursuing her Master’s Degree in TESOL at University Sains Malaysia (USM) to enhance her skills in career. Chelva started her career in an International school based in Penang. Prior to joining SCIPS, Chelva was teaching in an International school in Selangor. She has taught in all key stages as she loves to develop her skills in teaching. She believes that all students are unique and everyone learns in their own way. Thus,she loves to use multiple methods of teaching to reach students, so that no one is left behind. Chelva is excited to be a part of SCIPS.
Sarasu is originally from Kedah, Malaysia. She has a Bachelor Degree of Arts in English and Literature from University of Malaya and a Postgraduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) from University of Sunderland, UK. She has taught for two years at an International School in Brunei and has moved back to Penang and now is teaching at the wonderful St Christopher’s. She has many years of teaching experience and has taught children from the age of 4 years to 11 years.
In her free time, she enjoys doing yoga, reading books and cooking as well as spending time with her family! Sarasu is married to Raja and has two young adult children, Gisshara and Nidhis.

Joey is originally from Liverpool, England. She trained at Liverpool Hope University and has an honours degree in Primary Education and Disability Studies. Whilst at University, she won a scholarship to spend a semester studying and teaching in Durban, South Africa. It was here that she met her husband, Rudi and they have since welcomed two children, Nell and Remy. After teaching in the UK, Joey spent three years teaching in a British International school in Kuwait before eventually moving to work in an international school in Penang, First, she worked there as a teacher and EYFS leader before later becoming the Deputy Headteacher of the school. Joey fell in love with Penang the moment she arrived and now classes Penang as ‘home.’ Outside of school she enjoys fashion, reading educational papers and exploring all of the fabulous food that Penang has to offer! She is very excited to be working in a school as lovely as SCIPS where she has been since 2020.
Bryony is from Devon, a large county in England’s West Country. She studied Primary Education at the University of the West of England, Bristol. Coming from a small coastal town, she loved the diversity of city life and so decided to start her career in teaching here. Bryony has always had a passion for travel and after spending a summer teaching English in Thailand, she knew that she wanted to pursue international teaching. In 2018 she moved to Penang with her partner Lukas and began teaching at SCIPS as a cover teacher. She thoroughly enjoyed teaching across all year groups and subjects and became a Year 5 teacher in her second year here before moving to her current position as a teacher in Year 2.
Jasmin has been residing in Penang for close to 20 years. She has a passion for teaching and has been a teacher in SCIPS for 15 years. Jasmin has a vast experience of teaching in the early years (Reception) as well as Key Stage 1 (Year 1 and 2). She was born and brought up in Ipoh and graduated high school from Main Convent Ipoh. Jasmin continued her studies in America where she studied at the University of Oklahoma and obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication.
She resides in Penang with her husband Jiv, a senior engineering manager and has three children, the first, a mechanical engineering graduate; her second is studying engineering and a daughter who is studying law. Jasmine enjoys nature walks, chilling with friends and cooking. Every year has been an adventure and she is excited about starting her 16th year in SCIPS and looks forward to welcoming her class of 2021.
Rogini was born and raised in Penang. She has completed has a Masters’s degree in Education specializing in TESL at one of the local universities in Malaysia. She has taught in different international schools for eight years from early years up to Year 2. She has been very passionate about teaching and nurturing young children since secondary school.
Living in a food paradise, Rogini enjoys all types of cuisine just as teaching! She loves trying on new recipes, reading, listening to music, and most of all spending time with her family. She is married to Kishen Gavaskar and they have a child named Shroshenn Gavaskar.
Rogini is excited for her another fantastic adventure of being a Year 2 class teacher at SCIPS along with her son in Reception.
