Years 7 and 8 are essential years for children as they have specific development needs. The Prep phase will provide structures and systems and an environment where they are happy and safe and thrive academically, socially, physically and emotionally, enabling them to develop a sense of their place in the world.
Learning will focus on the practical development of the skills needed to support the children to become successful students. In addition to the standard academic subjects, Prep students will participate in enrichment activities, enabling them to select and explore other possible interests such as robotics, coding, dancing, photography, gardening and many more.
One unique aspect of the Prep school will be the ability for children to connect with and understand Penang and its communities. Through regular outings, children will learn about and experience the different environments and communities on the island.
Like in other schools, students are taught by specialist teachers; however, rather than having between 8 – 10 different teachers, who often teach in isolation from each other, students in the Prep phase will be taught by a small dedicated team of teachers. By reducing the number of teachers, students will be able to build deeper positive relationships. In addition, the teachers will be able to communicate and work together to show the students how to link up their learning across different subjects; this will develop transferable skills and knowledge that enhance the children’s learning.
