Keep up to date with what is happening at St. Christopher’s by following us on Twitter and Facebook.
The school has surveyed all staff as well as the parents on their children’s travel arrangements. Those who have travelled to affected areas are either secondary screening at home for 14 days or have chosen to keep their children away from school.
School has asked parents that continue to travel during this period to keep us informed so we can advise any additional measures. Parents who are travelling should be aware of all up to date travel information before they travel and be prepared for the eventuality that the travel advisory may change during their time away.
School is currently doing temperature screening of visitors to the school. Visitors are only allowed onto the campus if they have a prior appointment and when they come into school they have to complete a travel declaration form. This includes external ASA providers.
We undertake daily cleaning of all areas of the school with regular sanitisation of classrooms surfaces, door handles and stair rails.
The teachers are encouraging good hygiene among all students and regular hand washing with soap takes place as well as providing hand sanitizer in each classroom and around the campus. As per our normal procedure, students who appear unwell are being screened by the school nurse and will be sent home immediately if they present with flu-like symptoms and/or a temperature over 37.5.
Please see the latest updates for current measures additional to these.
Yes, your child can wear a face mask at school.
We will continue to follow the directives of the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Health so will close on their advice. The closure will be for as long as is directed by the government.
All the teachers have been undergoing training on Google Classroom and this will be the platform we will use to share work and communicate with the children and parents. More details will be shared if there is a school closure.
There is currently no vaccine to prevent coronavirus disease (COVID-19). The best way to prevent illness is to avoid being exposed to this virus. Maintaining personal hygiene such as hand washing and using hand sanitisers are the best starts. Below are some links to support with this.
We expect parents to take reasonable precautions to keep all students healthy. This includes keeping your children home when they are sick and informing the school. Parents should also encourage healthy practices, including handwashing, healthy eating, and plenty of sleep.
Talk to your children about the coronavirus; keep it factual and please be aware of how much information you share depending on the age of the child.
If you are aware of others who have specific concerns please ask them to come and see us. Please do not spread rumours about the virus.
As mentioned above please update the school if parents are travelling or if you have any visitors from any of the affected areas.
We will share updates through official school channels, this includes through Flexibuzz and emails to parents when necessary. We will also update the page on the website with any changes. We encourage all of our community to read such things regularly to stay abreast of the current situation.
The class parents will continue to share updates from Flexibuzz in the WhatsApp group chats.
We continue to monitor the events taking place at school. All international trips and travel off Penang has been stopped for the time being and will be reviewed periodically.
As with all questions that you have unanswered, please come in and ask at school. If you have questions about policies or procedures then please direct these to Mr Lamb or Mr Towse.
