Angelica is originally from Peru, and also calls New York home. She received a BA in Political Studies at Bard College and a MST at Fordham University, both in New York. She was a part of the programme Teach for America, and taught at a primary school where she loved working with young children.
Her passion for global education, travel, and learning about other cultures led her to move to Malaysia in 2013 to join Teach for Malaysia, an education non-profit. She formed part of their teacher training and leadership development team based in Penang. In April 2016, she made the decision to return to a school-based setting, and joined SCIPS as a Year 2 teacher. She is excited about teaching Year 4 this year, and getting to know the students and families of her new class. In her free time, Angelica enjoys doing yoga, eating all types of fruit, and going on hikes (and avoiding monkeys).
