Personal Social and Health Education

Personal, Social, and Health Education promotes childrens' personal, social and emotional development, as well as their health and wellbeing. It helps to give children the knowledge and skills they need to lead confident healthy and independent lives.  It helps the to understand how they are developing personally and socially and tackles many of the moral, cultural and social issues that are part of growing up.

A good PSHE programme promotes positive behaviour, mutual repsect and self-awareness.

Our PSHE programme aims to deliver quality pastoral care, highlight religious education across a braod range of faiths, provide sex education at Y6, raise issues of health and hygiene and community awareness.

We pride ourselves on the excellent relationship that exists between parents, pupils, staff and the community. This relationship is enhanced by the P.S.H.E. program, which encourages parental involvement in all aspects of our children's social and emotional development.

Parents are also welcome to attend our class assemblies, which normally take place twice a year for each class. These presentations highlight the work of the class and often focus on a Personal Goal.

Through our Personal Goal  assemblies the children learn about the attributes that we hope to foster in school:

  • Cooperation
  • Respect
  • Morality
  • Enquiry
  • Adaptability
  • Thoughtfulness
  • Communication
  • Resilience

P.S.H.E. is a way of bringing everyone connected to the St. Christopher's 'family' together and allows the children to explore sensitive issues in a safe and caring environment.   SCIPS also has a Prefects system. This also aims to give the older students added responsibilities to enhance opportunities to help others in the school.
