Physical Education

PE is taught throughout the school by specialist PE teachers. Every child at SCIPS has the opportunity to participate in PE lessons and develop an enjoyment and life long commitment to staying fit and healthy.

The P.E. program encourages full participation, learning, friendly competition, social interaction and attempts to meet the needs of all students, regardless of physical and mental ability.

A scheme of work has been developed to ensure a progression of skills across the subject.

PE is broken into different skill areas and these are represented through a in of sports throughout your child’s time at SCIPS. These areas are: Invasion games, Over the net games, Striking and fielding games, Dance, Swimming, Athletics and Outdoor Adventure. A specific Gymnastics curriculum is currently being introduced. Each area has its own importance and a balance of all these are covered across each Key Stage.

Our curriculum follows the British National Curriculum.

TABLE TO COME

Every child in KS1 & KS2 also goes to swimming lessons for 10 weeks. During these lessons they are taught how to be confident in water extending teaching all the way through to stroke/technique. Lessons are grouped to ensure children are working at the level which is best suited to their own swimming abilities. Qualified life guards are present at all times.

The school also participates in many sporting competitions against local and international schools. Every child has the opportunity to try out for these teams through after school activities (ASAs).
